The game that would eventually become Super 3D Noah's Ark was originally conceived as a licensed game based on the movie Hellraiser, a movie that Wisdom Tree founder Dan Lawton was a great fan of. Answering the questions correctly will award the player with health. The questions are either "True or False" or multiple choice, and involve the original story of Noah from the Bible, as told in the Book of Genesis.

There are also scrolls scattered throughout most levels, that contain quizzes for the player to answer. Ironically, these features were present in the DOS version of Super 3D Noah's Ark, even though they weren't present in the original DOS version of Wolfenstein 3D. In addition to featuring a similar gameplay style and level layout to Wolfenstein 3D, it shares many elements from the SNES and other Mac Family ports, such as power-ups to boost the player's ammunition capacity and special weapons that use their own ammo. The animals have grown restless, so Noah must traverse the Ark and feed the animals with food-fired from a variety of slingshots-to make them fall asleep. The Great Flood is over, but there are still six days left before all of the animals can be released.

Eventually, it was re-released on Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux in 2015. It was later ported to MS-DOS in 1995, with superior textures and graphics to its console counterpart. It is the only commercially released SNES game to be unlicensed. Rebecca Heineman has the MIDI files for the SNES version of Wolfenstein 3D, but is not legally allowed to distribute them.Super 3D Noah's Ark is a 1994 Christian first-person shooter developed by Wisdom Tree for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, and a total conversion of the SNES port of Wolfenstein 3D. The current recording was made by recording the game play, but a new rip should be made with the SNSF rip.

This was probably due to a rumor that Rebecca was hired by id Software to work on the game, while secretly being employed with Interplay, and that when id Software found out, they terminated Rebecca from employment.Īccording to Rebecca, the game's instrument samples were taken from an Ensoniq SQ-1.īecause the SNES version doesn't utilize the S-SMP chip in the standard way, the music cannot be dumped into SPC files and had to be ripped to the SNSF format.

The game Wisdom Tree was developing was supposed to be based off the movie Hellraiser, and the game would use extra hardware to enhance the gameplay, but because of the extra hardware, the cartridges were too expensive to ship so the game was scrapped and turned into Super Noah's Ark 3D. Super Noah's Ark 3D was later made and it was rumored that the reason it was developed was because id Software did not approve of the fact that Nintendo censored their game, so they gave their engine to Wisdom Tree. The SNES version of the game spread a lot of controversy because of its censoring of blood, Nazis and Nazi symbols, replacing dogs with rats and Hitler with Staatmeister (Country Master) who is basically a rehashed version of Hitler without a mustache. While the Macintosh, 3DO, and Jaguar ports all feature higher resolution sprites and higher quality soundtracks, the SNES version has mildly better music and terrible graphics, worse even than the original DOS port. The levels are shrunken down and the enemies can't rotate. The SNES port of Wolfenstein 3D is the base of the later non-DOS ports. This page is for the SNES game, for other platforms see Wolfenstein 3D.
